In the first 10 months, Heilongjiang exported over 100,000 tons of plastic products

According to data released by Harbin Customs, Heilongjiang Province exported 107,000 tons of plastic products in the first 10 months of this year, marking a 20.8% rise compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects an increasing demand for plastic goods both domestically and internationally. Among the key markets, the ASEAN region has shown strong growth, with exports reaching 30,000 tons during the same period—a 1.7-fold increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, exports to Russia dropped by 13.8%, totaling 11,000 tons, while shipments to the United States rose by 35.4% to 9,000 tons. Exports to the European Union fell significantly by 39.8%, amounting to 8,000 tons. Together, these four major markets accounted for 54.2% of the province’s total plastic product exports during the period. Starting from July 15th, the Chinese government removed the export tax rebate for certain plastic products, including ethylene polymer scraps. This marks the first time since multiple increases in the tax rebate rate that the government has taken such a step. For domestic plastic manufacturers, this policy change has led to higher production costs, potentially affecting their competitiveness in global markets. In response, local authorities have advised plastic companies to enhance safety and environmental standards to better align with international market demands. They also recommend phasing out outdated technologies and optimizing production capacity to improve efficiency and market distribution. Additionally, the focus should be on promoting the recycling and reuse of plastic waste, embracing a circular economy model to support long-term sustainable development. These measures are seen as essential for maintaining growth and adapting to new regulatory environments.
