Recently, the country's first social responsibility report from a private enterprise, titled "Pick Social Responsibility Report White Paper," was officially released in Beijing by an international authoritative certification body. Experts believe this marks a significant milestone for private enterprises in embracing and advocating for their social responsibility. At the event, Jack Hui, General Manager of Peak, stated that after becoming a publicly listed company, the firm has long been committed to social responsibility, with Chairman Xu Jingnan actively involved in charitable activities. He emphasized that Peak, as a responsible enterprise, should be subject to public scrutiny and oversight.
"Private companies taking the initiative to invite third-party certification bodies is no small feat—it sets a new benchmark," said Paul Yu, a counselor from the State Department. The former president of the China Private Economic and Technological Seminar noted that Quanzhou is a region with a strong private economy, where many private enterprises have made remarkable contributions to wealth creation, employment, and social responsibility.
According to this reporter, Peak not only employs over 11,000 people but also continuously improves its production processes to achieve environmental protection. The company has developed eco-friendly shoes, promoting green concepts to consumers. Additionally, Xu Jingnan, Chairman of Peak Group, was honored alongside renowned Chinese business figures like Li Ka-shing and Fok Ying-tung as one of the top 60 philanthropists for his contributions to charity on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
In promoting basketball culture, Peak’s General Manager Xu Zhihua has taken a high-profile approach, aiming to bring more than 10 NBA stars to China, hoping to elevate the overall level of basketball in the country through the brand's influence.
Zhang Wanze, Director of Certification at BV International Inspection Group Greater China, who was invited to assess the report, told reporters, “We conducted on-site investigations to ensure the report is comprehensive, detailed, and accurate.â€
Experts highlight that the most notable feature of this social responsibility report is that it moves beyond vague claims and instead relies on third-party field research and recognized global standards. This approach offers a deeper insight into how Chinese enterprises understand and fulfill their social responsibilities.
