Pick released China's first private enterprise social responsibility report

Recently, the country's first social responsibility report from a private enterprise, titled "Pick Social Responsibility Report White Paper," was officially released in Beijing by an international authoritative certification body. Experts have highlighted that this marks a significant milestone for private enterprises in taking ownership of their social responsibilities and striving for greater accountability. At the event, Jack Hui, General Manager of Peak, stated that since becoming a publicly listed company, the firm has long been committed to social responsibility, with Chairman Xu Jingnan actively involved in charitable activities. He emphasized that as a responsible enterprise, Peak should be open to public scrutiny and oversight. "It’s not easy for private companies to voluntarily invite third-party certification bodies; this move sets a meaningful example," said Paul Yu, a counselor at the State Department. The former president of the China Private Economic and Technological Seminar noted that Quanzhou is a region known for its vibrant private sector, where many enterprises have made remarkable contributions to wealth creation, employment, and social responsibility. According to the reporter, Peak employs over 11,000 people and continuously improves its production processes to achieve environmental protection goals, promoting eco-friendly shoe development and raising consumer awareness about sustainability. In addition, Xu Jingnan, Chairman of Peak Group, was honored alongside renowned Chinese business figures such as Li Ka-shing and Fok Ying-tung as one of the top 60 philanthropists recognized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China. Meanwhile, Peak's General Manager Xu Zhihua has taken a high-profile role in promoting basketball culture, aiming to bring more than 10 NBA stars to China and using the brand's influence to elevate the standard of basketball across the nation. Zhang Wanze, Director of Certification at BV International Inspection Group Greater China, who conducted the review, mentioned in an interview: "We performed a field study to ensure the report is comprehensive, detailed, and accurate." Experts believe that the most notable feature of this report is that it moves beyond mere statements of corporate social responsibility without evidence. Instead, it incorporates the findings of a third-party authority through on-site research and systematic evaluation, offering deeper insights into the true nature of social responsibility within Chinese enterprises.
