As many of my dear Oliver + S friends are expecting little bundles of joy—Cherie, Kristin, Rae, and a couple of others whose names I'm not entirely sure I should mention yet—I've found myself thinking a lot about baby things. Honestly, creating something special for a baby shower or a new arrival has always been on my wish list. There’s just something irresistibly delightful about sewing those tiny garments that seem to shrink the moment you glance away!
Here it is then—the Lullaby Layette Set pattern! This marks our debut collection of baby patterns, designed to cater to infants from newborn all the way up to 24 months. It’s meant to form the foundation of any baby’s wardrobe, offering a mix of practicality and charm. The set includes a darling little bodysuit (though let’s be honest, everyone calls them onesies, even though only Carter’s seems to have trademarked the term), a shirt, pants, and a reversible jacket. I absolutely adore the pleated detail—it strikes that perfect balance between modern flair and timeless elegance. These pants offer ample room for bulky diapers while maintaining an easy pull-on style—no snaps needed. This simplifies the sewing process significantly and ensures a speedy project completion.
Moving on to the jacket, it’s simplicity itself yet undeniably charming. Its reversible nature lets you experiment with coordinating or contrasting fabrics, opening up endless creative possibilities. Raglan sleeves paired with simple shoulder darts ensure a snug fit, and the idea of crafting this piece in cozy flannel or fleece is simply irresistible! Bias binding finishes the edges, making the sewing process smooth and enjoyable.
