Zhejiang Yiwu Textile and Apparel Export Value over 900 Million U.S. Dollars

According to data from the Yiwu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from January to September this year, a total of 26,913 batches of textiles and garments were exported from Yiwu District, with a combined value of $9.421 billion. This represents a year-on-year increase of 29.57% in volume and 32.66% in value, marking a successful double growth in both quantity and value of exports.

Due to changes in domestic and international market conditions, textile manufacturers in Yiwu have increasingly realized that low-end products are no longer as competitive as they once were. In response, many companies have started to focus on high-end product development, aiming to improve quality and enhance the value of their exports. To support this shift, the Yiwu Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has implemented various initiatives to help businesses raise standards and strengthen management.

The bureau has intensified its oversight of safety, hygiene, and anti-counterfeiting measures for textiles and clothing. It also conducts stricter checks on physical and chemical properties, origin labels, composition details, and care instructions. Companies are now required to strictly follow national standards during sampling and import/export inspections.

In addition, the bureau is actively monitoring international technical trade regulations and responding promptly to new challenges. Events like “Technical Regulations for Developing Countries” have been organized to help local enterprises better understand foreign technical requirements and consumer preferences, thereby improving their ability to deal with green trade barriers.

Furthermore, the bureau has introduced enterprise classification management, focusing on cultivating top-tier and second-tier companies. This shift aims to move from micro-level inspections to macro-level supervision, enhancing companies’ awareness of quality and integrity. Training programs on domestic and international textile standards have also been launched, helping firms adapt to evolving technical demands and elevate their quality management systems.

Through these efforts, Yiwu’s textile and garment industry is gradually transforming from quantity-driven to quality-focused, paving the way for sustainable and competitive export growth.
