On January 18, 2005, the Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Management Committee formally approved the establishment of the Shanghai Metersbonwe Costume Museum. In December of the same year, the Shanghai Metersbonwe Costume Museum was completed and opened to the public. During the 16 years of its opening, the museum has integrated collection research, display and exhibition, foreign exchanges, and staff teaching. It has provided more comprehensive collections and materials for professionals studying Chinese clothing culture and the general public who are interested in Chinese clothing. The purpose of building the Metersbonwe Costume Museum is also to protect the cultural treasures of Chinese national costumes, promote the national spirit, and leave some ethnic memories for future generations. At present, there are nearly 10,000 collections of various ethnic groups in the museum. The social responsibility of clothing.
The museum will be moved to: Phase 2 of the Fashion Industrial Park, Zhoupu Town, Pudong New District, Shanghai. The new museum has 4 floors and a total area of ​​4,700 square meters, which will present folk costume collections in a more professional manner. Stay tuned!
