Consumers Association reminded: "100% cashmere" is not necessarily pure cashmere

Summary:

It will be Christmas, Mr. Xing is wondering to buy a Christmas gift for his girlfriend. All kinds of beautiful cashmere sweaters in the mall attracted the attention of Mr. Xing. "Cashmere sweater is both warm and beautiful, and his girlfriend will love it." Mr. Xing sees that some cashmere sweater labels are marked with "100% cashmere" and some are marked with "pure cashmere." Mr. Xing would like to know, "100% cashmere" and "pure cashmere" is the same thing? What is the meaning of "100% cashmere", "100% wool" and "100% cotton"?

The staff of the Nanjing Consumers Association told the reporter that products marked as “100% cashmere” do not necessarily contain 100% cashmere, but allow 5% of wool to exist. This is due to the fact that in actual production, morphological variations in cashmere fibers and non-human factors mixed with a small amount of wool are very normal. As long as the cashmere content is greater than or equal to 95% can be marked by 100% cashmere. It should be noted that if the remaining 5% is not wool, but rabbit hair or chemical fibers, it cannot be labeled "100% cashmere".

Unlike "100% cashmere," sweaters labelled "100% wool" are not allowed to contain any other fibers. The products labelled as “pure wool” are different, and pure wool products are allowed to contain a certain amount of non-wool fibers, but only for blending polyester or cotton with reinforcement, and the sum of the two cannot exceed 5%, that is, wool. The fiber content must reach at least 95%. In addition, if there are visible, decorative fibers, as long as the wool fiber reaches 93%, and can be determined that other fibers besides cotton and polyester are decorative, it can also be labeled as "pure wool" products.

In addition, the meaning of the two products labeled as "cotton" or "100% cotton" is exactly the same and there is no difference. A product marked with "cotton" or "100% cotton" means that it cannot contain any other non-cotton fibers, even if it is insignificant. Otherwise, it cannot be labeled "pure cotton" or "100% cotton".
