Zara has once again made headlines for poor product quality. For example, in August 2009, Zara's sandals were flagged as non-compliant in Shanghai. In December 2009, Beijing consumers reported that Zara's overcoats contained less cashmere than advertised. In early 2010, Zara appeared on multiple "black lists" following quality inspections in cities like Shanghai and Harbin.
Despite these repeated issues, many consumers still choose Zara for its fashion appeal. When asked why they continue to buy the brand despite quality concerns, some shoppers admitted that style remains a key factor.
In response to the latest allegations, the reporter contacted Zara's headquarters in Shanghai. However, the PR team requested that all questions be submitted via email and stated that no official comments could be given locally. They claimed that any response would need to go through the Spanish headquarters after further investigation. When asked if the problematic items were being sold in Shanghai, the representative declined to comment.
According to previous media reports, Zara tends to be unresponsive when it comes to addressing quality issues. There have been few instances of proactive recalls or public statements regarding substandard products.
