Italian optician giant Luxottica acquires the old firm's Minglang glasses

Italian optical giant Luxottica's North American retail brand Lens Crafters Minglang, quietly in the Tianhe City Square, Shenzhen Parkland Plaza, Guangzhou Longkou West Road and other places at the same time trial. According to sources, Luxottica bought Guangzhou Minglang glasses for RMB 290 million a few months ago. The "Minglang Optical Shop" will also be renamed to Lens Crafters in 2008. The old company will not exist for many years.

It is understood that China's optical industry up to 2 billion US dollars in the market, "cake" has always been coveted by the international optical industry giants, while domestic and few national eyewear chain enterprises. A few months ago, the Italian eyewear giant Luxottica invested 600 million yuan in the acquisition of three high-end eyewear chain companies, namely Beijing Xueliang, Guangzhou Minglang, and Shanghai Modern Optics, and announced that it will bring its high-end retailer of North American high-end glasses “Lens Crafters” to China.

Andrea Guerra, CEO of Luxottica Group, issued a "warfare book" to his Chinese counterparts - Luxottica's integration of the three acquisition targets will last for three years, eventually occupying the high-end luxury brand market in China. According to reports, in the next three years, Luxottica currently operates a number of high-end eyewear brands as its main promotion brand in China, and is gradually rolled out in 270 stores including Shanghai Modern Optics, Guangzhou Minglang and Beijing Xueliang. It is reported that Luxottica's global net sales last year was 4.4 billion US dollars. Andre Gulla expects that its operating income in China will account for 1% of the group's total revenue this year and will reach 2% next year.

According to relevant person in charge of the Guangzhou Minglang glasses chain, the optical shop opened by Luxottica in South China is to preserve the original customer group of the Minglang glasses and temporarily named it as “Lens Crafter”. However, by 2008, the Guangzhou Minglang optical shop will be renamed, and the old company, which has been using the Minglang optical shop for decades, will also disappear in Guangzhou.
