What is the difference between printing and dyeing

When we use the same dye in dyeing and printing, the properties of the chemical additives used are similar, and the dyeing mechanism is the same. However, there are many different places for dyeing and printing. What is the difference between the two?

1, different processing media. The printing process requires the addition of a paste and a dyeing material to prepare a printing paste to prevent unclear patterns or flower-shaped distortions, and to prevent dye migration during printing after drying. The dyeing process uses water as the medium. Under normal circumstances, no or only a small amount of thickening paste is used as an antimigration agent.

2, different spelling methods. Different types of dyes are often used for co-printing or paddle printing, and dyeing rarely uses two different types of dyes for color matching. Printing and dyeing require different qualities for the semi-finished products. The same shades of color are obtained. The amount of dye used in the printing is much greater than that of the dyeing, so the co-solvent is sometimes added.

There are many methods for printing patterns on dyes or paints on fabrics, but the main methods are the following three.

(1) Direct printing: The method of directly printing a flower pattern of various colors on fabrics is called direct printing. In the printing process, color pastes of various colors do not cause obstruction and destruction. This method can print white flowers and Montreal flowers.

(2) Discharging and printing: The fabric dyed with ground color is printed with a color paddle containing chemicals that can destroy the color of the earth. Such chemicals are called discharging agents. Dyed propellers can also be added with chemically resistant dyes. Therefore, the discharge printing can obtain two effects, namely, whitening and color pulling.

(3) Anti-dyeing and printing: Firstly, the fabric printing agent is used to prevent the dye from being dyed, and then the color of the pad is dyed. The place where the pattern is printed can prevent the color from being stained. This kind of method is called anti-dying printing. This method can get three effects, namely, white, color and some anti-dyed.

3, post-processing process is different. The post-printing paste will form a film that prevents diffusion of the dye into the fiber. Sometimes it must be steamed to transfer the dye from the paste to the fiber (that is, increase the dye diffusion rate) to complete the coloration. The process is followed by routine washing, soaping, and drying. The post-processing of dyeing processing is usually water washing, soaping, drying and other processes. In the dyeing process, the dyeing liquid on the fabric has a longer acting time, and the dye can fully penetrate into the fiber, so no other Special post-processing.
